1）The story takes place in the fictional village which is called West Egg. Nick Carraway, a veteran of the Great War from the Midwest who serves as the novel‘s narrator(旁白), takes a job in New York as a bond salesman.故事发生在一个叫做西卵的虚构村庄。尼克·卡拉韦,一位资深的战争来自中西部地区作为小说的叙述者(旁白),需要一份工作在纽约债券推销员。

3）Later Gatsby invites Nick to the party. 7）Under Tom's provocation ,Myrtle's husband, George Wilson, falsely concludes that the driver of The yellow car is the secret lover he suspects she has. 8）Nick stages an unsettlingly small funeral for Gatsby which none of Gatsby's associates or partygoers attend. At the same time, Daisy has made up her mind to abandon Gatsby, and she has already travelled on Europe with Tom.
